QUICKSTEP

Learn to Dance the Quickstep

Quickstep is a light-hearted member of the standard ballroom dances. It was developed in New York during the 1920s and was first danced by Caribbean and African dancers. Quickstep’s origins are a combination of a slow Foxtrot and the Charleston, one of the precursors to what today is called Swing dancing. The movement of the dance is fast, powerful, and sprinkled with syncopations. The upbeat melodies that Quickstep is danced to make it suitable for both formal and informal events.
