RUMBA
Rumba
Rumba is a non-progressive, Latin dance style, sometimes called the “dance of love”. With Afro-Cuban origins, Rumba is a broad term that includes multiple musical and dance forms such as Danzon, Guaracha, and Son. The ballroom version of Rumba is derived from Son, a slower, less eroticized style that Americans discovered in the late 1920s. It grew in popularity through the 1930s and 1940s before becoming standardized as a ballroom dance in the mid 1950s.
