HUSTLE

Hustle

The Hustle was a dance craze that became popular in the early 1970s on the dance floors of New York City. It emerged as Disco, with high quality sound systems, and flashing lights, became a popular form of entertainment in the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s. The Hustle marked a return to popular dances where couples danced touching each other. The Hustle is primarily a spot dance, but can progress counter clockwise. It is a fast but smooth-moving dance that is comprised of turns, spins, and wraps with a high value put on elaborate arm styling. The popularity of modern and "retro" music with a "disco" beat keeps the dance fresh, exciting and full of energy for today.
