Originally from Tucson, Arizona, David attended Stanford University in California and earned his BA in Political Science. He moved to Austin in the early 2000's to take classes at The University of Texas. His dance journey started when he first attended classes at Go Dance Studio. Not long after, he became immersed in the Texas salsa scene - attending congresses and performing/competing as part of a dance company. He was eventually recruited by Go Dance to join their teacher training program where he received a well-rounded dance education in Country, Swing, Smooth & Rhythm. He spent a lot of time in the Austin Salsa scene as a student and early in his teaching career, where he developed a good depth of knowledge for Latin dance, history, and music. David also trained in American Style Smooth & Rhythm (Bronze Level) and both trained/competed in Country and West Coast Swing. With over 15 years of experience dancing and teaching a variety of partner & social dances, he considers himself to be a Swiss Army knife among dance instructors!

David welcomes students of all levels although he especially enjoys working with newcomer students - guiding them in their first phase of learning as they progress from beginners to competent social dancers. David is highly interested in the process of learning and is frequently developing curriculum, methods, and drills for students to improve their skills. He believes that learning how to dance can be life changing. It combines artistry with athleticism, improves physical and mental well-being, and provides community and a positive social outlet.

Currently, David splits his time at Go Dance as an instructor and a technical problem solver, lending his skill set where needed, anything from keeping the studio beautiful with repairs & upgrades to videography of the studio's Showcases!

Fun Facts: When not teaching or dancing, David is usually spending time on his freelance videography business, home renovations, or hiking with his dogs. He also has a passion for collecting and curating all types of music, and whenever he gets a chance, he's building playlists for dance socials.
