Mira was born in Pennsylvania and grew up with a love for movement and the outdoors. Teaching has been a passion since her first job; for 15 years she taught gymnastics to kids ages 3-18. Moving to the Pacific Northwest in her early twenties, Mira continued her teaching path at a wilderness survival school. She loved incorporating creative movement by encouraging her students to mimic the movements they saw in nature. She continued her own movement training during that time through the 5Rhythms and West African dance. Always fascinated by partner dancing, Mira took up Salsa dancing when she moved to Austin in 2012. She immediately fell in love with both social dancing and performing. She joined Go Dance as a front desk manager in 2014, and her role grew to include coordinating our outside events and studio rentals. In 2015, she added teaching to the many hats she wears for the studio.

“Dancing is a great way to be fully present in the moment. Regardless of what is happening off the dance floor, on the dance floor I find peace. It provides a wonderful escape!”

Mira loves to work with students who seek to find joy in the process of learning. Sometimes learning can be intense! In those moments, she likes reminding her students why they started dancing in the first place, and helping them reconnect to the joy of music and movement. Mira’s favorite dance is always the one she is dancing in the given moment. She enjoys connecting with students of all ages, teaching for both our youth and adult programs. An avid social dancer in multiple genres, Mira helps her students understand that “dancing is dancing”, and that much of what you learn for one style can translate to all the other dances.

Off the dance floor, you’ll find Mira enjoying hiking, biking, kayaking, and volunteering for human rights causes.
