Bernadette Carmichael is a native of Bolton Manchester, England. Thus, we love listening to her talk! She first experienced dance through taking Contemporary, Ballet, Tap, Line Dance, and Hip-Hop classes. After seeing one of the top competitive country couples Line Dancing, Bernadette knew she had to pursue partner dancing. Since she was asked to compete, she hasn't looked back!
Bernadette has been partner dancing for 12 years. As a result of her success as a competitive dancer, her fellow competitors asked her to train them. She has now been teaching for eight years, and she became a Go Dance instructor in 2009. Bernadette has taught in 11 different countries; she was even invited to teach in Japan! She has judged international dance competitions since age 19. She has earned a whopping 11 1st place World Championship titles and has trained many students who have gained Amateur World Titles. Bernadette was also one of the top 22 dancers on the English version of the hit TV show, So You Think You Can Dance.
I love the accomplishment of helping people look and feel better in their dancing. I want to get the best out of them, whether they think it's there or not.
For Bernadette, dancing is more than just technique and athleticism, it's also artistry. She approaches teaching with precision and detail to fine-tune her students' technique and style. Bernadette has a special way of making students understand concepts or movements that they had been told or shown before but somehow didn't get. If Bernadette is your instructor, don't be surprised to find yourself dancing like a pro in no time!
