Kate was born and raised in Connecticut, and graduated from Duke University with a Masters in Nursing in 2013. She then chose to move to Austin for it’s fun city vibe. Her love of movement and music developed early, and from middle school on she enjoyed performing in musicals and cheerleading. Inspired by “Dancing with the Stars”, Kate began partner dancing after moving to Austin. Her love of being on stage quickly drew Kate to perform in Go Dance Showcases and compete in Country Western as a Pro/Am with instructor Jake Greene; they now compete in the Pro/Pro division.

“I remember being a beginner myself, so I am empathetic to the challenges new dancers have. It’s so fulfilling to help people find their joy of dance!”

A people-person at heart, Kate loves getting to know each of her students, and her infectious cheerful personality encourages students throughout the learning process. She is a firm believer that learning to dance should be fun-filled, and often gets even more excited than her students when they “get” something new in a lesson. Kate loves working with a broad spectrum of students: helping engaged couples make their first dance a dreamy part of their wedding; introducing kids and teenagers to the world of partner dancing; and working with students to reach their dance goals, whether they are interested in social dancing or finding their place in the spotlight through performance.

Off the dance floor, Kate loves to cook her family’s italian recipes, try out new restaurants, and take her dog, Tyler, to the park.
