Beth was born and raised in Alabama and grew up taking Ballet, Tap, and Jazz classes. She started competing at age eight and continued to compete for 11 years at national competitions in various group and solo categories. By age 16, she was a paid dancer and choreographer. As a teenager, Beth studied Contemporary, Modern, West African, and Contact Improvisation, and in 2005 started learning Swing and Lindy Hop. Beth found herself drawn to Lindy Hop because she loved the music. Due to Lindy’s creative, joyful, and playful nature, Lindy remains one of Beth’s favorite dances today. She’s also a fan of the Argentine Tango for its subtle communication between partners and inherent sensuality. Then after years of partner dancing, Beth decided to take the next step and become an instructor. In 2012, she joined the Go Dance teaching staff. Now, she just can’t stop dancing!
“I have always needed to dance. It chose me. It is something that I have to do.”
When it comes to teaching, Beth has an increased sense of body awareness. As a licensed massage therapist and a certified Stott Pilates instructor, she understands the importance of body mechanics, posture, and having a strong core to prevent injury. Her Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology helps her approach teaching from an inquisitive cultural perspective. Beth’s genuine love for all forms of dance and her passion for teaching is evident in her instruction. You won’t catch Beth teaching a lesson without a huge grin on her face!
