Allie was born and raised in Adkins, Texas, a small town outside of San Antonio. Always a driven person, she was a competitive gymnast for 12 years, during which she won three national team titles. After retiring from competition, she coached gymnastics and tumbling for four years while acquiring BAs in cultural anthropology, English and Spanish. Allie was always drawn to dancing. She spent her childhood free time at the country dancehall near her home and has fond memories of twirling around with her mother in their living room while listening to their favorite Sinatra records. Pursuing her dancing dreams, Allie joined Go Dance in 2014 teaching Country, Swing, Salsa and Ballroom.
“Dancing is a universal language with no right or wrong. It’s a way to forget your day’s stresses or celebrate the day’s joys.”
Allie’s favorite part about teaching is seeing the transformation that occurs in her students from the day they walk into the studio. Over years working with many gymnastics and dance coaches she has developed the ability to modify her approach to teaching based on what she sees is working best for each student. Allie is patient, enthusiastic, and believes lessons should always be a balance of having fun and making progress towards an individual’s goals.
Off the dance floor, Allie loves the wide variety of live music available in Austin and exploring her foodie side, trying out new restaurants and food trucks around town!
