Sidney Joseph Jr. was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Sidney had an affinity for movement at a very young age and started Hip-Hop dancing at 13. He sings and makes his own music, which gives him a very natural sense of rhythm and musicality. Sidney first encountered Latin dancing in 2003 and was immediately intrigued by its passion and artistry. It didn't take much to make him fall in love with partner dancing, and he hasn't looked back since!
Sidney had highly influential, talented dance instructors who inspired him to push harder and constantly improve. Sidney knew he wanted to have the same lasting effect on students of his own, and he became an instructor in 2004. Sidney joined Go Dance in 2008 and later took a break from teaching to pursue music. Sidney's love of dance drew him back to teaching in 2011, and he continues to make music. His favorite dances are the Salsa, Cha Cha, Bachata, and Argentine Tango. He appreciates Salsa for the variety of emotions the dance entails and the connection it requires with one's partner. He enjoys the sensuality and music of the Cha Cha and Bachata, as well as the Argentine Tango's seductive connection.
As an instructor, Sidney has a keen understanding of the technical and musical aspects of dance, and thus has a special ability to convey the spatial structure of patterns in a clear and concise manner. Sidney emphasizes how to control and redirect one’s momentum while working on precise footwork and detailed styling so that his students look like they are dancing with ease. Sidney is always honest, and he feels rewarded when his students take their dancing to the next level!
